St. Kevin's Parish

St. Kevin’s Parish, in the Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin, is a Christian Community in County Wicklow. Continuing the legacy of St. Kevin, who founded the 6th century monastic settlements in nearby Glendalough, we are centered on the Word of God and the Eucharist.
We are a faith community in which all can truly belong. Whether you are beginning to explore your faith or have been Catholic all of your life, you will be welcome. We are all called to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
Moving forward the parishes of Rathdrum, Roundwood and Laragh (St. Kevin’s) will work in partnership. This involves working in different ministries eg. The Liturgy, Sacramental Programmes, Youth, Social etc.
We hope that you find the information you need on our website. Please don’t hesitate to contact the Parish Office if we can be of assistance to you.
Message from Fr. Greene

I am originally from Kilkenny and am a priest of the Archdiocese of Dublin. Why Dublin? I was aware that the Archdiocese was very big, with over 200 parishes – an area covering the whole of Dublin, Wicklow and a large part of Kildare; this means that there is a variety of work. Also, the Dublin Diocese has had a long association with the missionary congregation of the Columban Missionaries and the Kiltegan Fathers down through the years. A number of priests from the diocese have worked on the missions.
I set out on my first missionary journey to Chile in 1990, completing in all 16 years. It was a most enriching experience and I am forever grateful to the Archdiocese of Dublin and to the Columban Fathers for the experience.
I returned to the Archdiocese in 2021 and was appointed to the Partnership of Rathdrum, Roundwood and Glendalough parishes by Archbishop Dermot Farrell.
Archbishop Farrell has invited us all – priests, religious and laity – to work together in planning, preparing and training for how best we can hand on the faith to our families and those around us in a Building Hope Project.
“Building Hope” means we must go forward with confidence in Christ, trusting in the Spirit, continuing to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
It also means training and empowering lay people in different ministries:
- Catechists – to help people prepare for the sacraments.
- Accompanying our young people.
- Care for the earth and our environment.
- Funeral Ministry.
Having a Parish Pastoral Council that is representative of the different age groups – both men and women and of the different ministries is very important. Training is available for this.
I ask you to pray for the church as we go forward and that we may all play our part “in building this new future for all, in new ways enabling the Word of God to spread (see Acts 6:7) “ Archbishop Dermot Farrell.

Prayer to St. Kevin.

Ever-living, loving God, long ago you led the young man Kevin to the beautiful valley of Glendalough, to follow his dream and grow in the knowledge of himself and union with you through presence, prayer, penance and silence.
Help us to treasure life as he did accepting all its shades of light and darkness.
In our busy world help us to find a little space to be still and know that you are God calling us home to heaven where you live and reign with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
