Strengthening Parish Finances
As we enter a new chapter in the life of St. Kevin’s under the Building Hope strategic initiative and guided by our Parish finance committee, we are looking to strengthen our parish finances to be able to sustain our financial position going forward.
Firstly and foremost I would like to thank all those that contribute and support the family offering.
Over recent years our income has dropped by over 20%. Coupled with this the parish has been impacted by the rapidly rising inflation and like everyone else has seen our utility bills dramatically increase in terms of electricity and heating oil as well as everyday expenses (candles, liturgical supplies, maintenance, insurance etc) .
Church expenses are met through the support of parishioners to the Parish Family Offering and donations. I am aware of the many demands that are made of your income. Your regular contribution will help St. Kevin’s parish now and will allow us to plan for the future. I am asking if you would consider becoming a regular contributor to the financing of St. Kevin’s or if you are already contributing could you increase your contribution?

Parish Family Offering
Parish Family Offering is the main source of income for the running of the parish. It pays for the day to day expenses of running the parish as well as maintaining the church property. Everyday expenses such as light and heat, salaries, music ministry. repairs and maintenance contracts, insurances etc must be met from the parish financial resources.

Tax Relief on Contributions
The Parish as an eligible charity can claim tax relief on your donation, provided it is more than €250 annually. This means the Parish can benefit some more from your generosity as a tax payer without it costing you anything additional.
By way of example, a donation of €5 per week is €260 for the year. With the tax rebate this will be worth €376.81 to the parish. Likewise, a total annual donation of €750 will be worth €1087, and a donation of €1000 will be worth €1449.
If you are eligible for the scheme which applies both to Self-Assessed and PAYE taxpayers and have not completed the CHY form in the last 5 years, the Parish will forward one to you on request – you do not have to contact the Revenue Commissioners yourself.
